New in: No7 Facial Cleansing Brush and Foaming Cleanser

After hearing everyone rave about the Clarisonic, I had been longing for a facial cleansing brush that was more affordable for ages! So when I found out about the No7 Facial Cleansing brush priced at a purse-friendly £24.99, I just had to get it! Armed with a £5 off No7 voucher and the knowledge that Boots had a 3for2 offer on No7 at the time, I headed to Boots and came home with this brush, the No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser and a face mask at bargain prices!

The brush comes with 2xAA batteries, the brush head already attached and one button that acts as an on/off switch as well as controlling the speed settings. There are two speeds, which I will come onto later. You can use the brush with almost any cleanser, but as No7 was on offer I chose to get the foaming cleanser that was recommended for it.

On first trying the brush, I wet my face, applied the foaming cleanser, then wet the brush and used it on the softer setting. If you are wearing makeup then you need to remove it first, but as I tried it first thing in the morning I didn’t need to do this step. The brush oscillates, which means it completely rotates, whereas other brushes only semi-oscillate. At first I found it difficult to manage and found I was applying too much pressure, causing my skin to be dragged by the brush. I soon got the hang of it though and gently massaged the cleanser into my face to get a deeper clean. My confidence grew and I decided to give the second, faster setting a go on my nose as I sometimes get blackheads in that area. All went well and I carried on with the rest of my skincare routine. Later on in the day however I found that my nose became red, dry and irritated then started peeling. I quickly learnt that the second setting wasn’t suitable for my nose. I avoided using the brush again until my nose had stopped peeling and felt normal again.

Now I stick to using the second setting only on my forehead as and when I feel I need it, and I use the first, more gentle setting everywhere else. I was a little shocked at how my nose reacted to the brush as my nose isn’t sensitive, in fact it usually likes a good exfoliation and I wouldn’t say this brush is that much harsher than some exfoliators I have used before. Once I got the hang of the right amount of pressure to use, along with which setting to use where, I began experimenting with different cleansers and different times of the day. I’ve found I really like this cleansing brush. It minimises blemishes, helps to clear my skin when it is being problematic and just generally gives me a deeper clean than a face cloth would.

The only negative I can say is that I would really like a stand for the brush as when you lay it down, the bristles touch the surface which can lead to the bristles picking up bacteria if you are not careful. I am really glad I purchased the cleansing brush. It was such a great price compared to other, higher-end cleansing brushes and I’ve seen an improvement in my skin after just a few uses.

Have you tried the No7 Facial Cleansing Brush or Foaming Cleanser? What did you think? Are there any other cleansing brushes you’d recommend? Let me know in the comments below.
