Challenge Accepted

challenge acceptedEarlier this month I got to try a spin class at Psycle London for the first time and if you haven’t already read my review, I loved it! I literally wanted to high five everyone I walked past as I made my way back to Oxford Circus station after the class. I couldn’t wait to go back again and was happy to hear that Psycle are opening another studio at Canary Wharf, which is near where I live.

I love spinning, I want to up my cardio, I want to lose weight and I want to get fitter, therefore it felt like a perfect fit when Psycle asked me to be their next challenger. Every month they have someone take on a challenge and track their progress on the Psycle blog. In March, Jake took on the mighty #Mansformation challenge of 30 spin classes in 30 days. Just last month new mum Andrea took on the #Mumsformation challenge to find time for exercise with a newborn in tow. Now it’s my turn. I am happy to announce that I’ll be the next challenger, taking on the #Fitsporation challenge of 3 spin classes a week for 30 days. Challenge accepted!

What do I hope to gain? Well, I hope regular spin classes will increase my fitness and trim a few inches because, well, I have a lot of inches to spare! Having just moved house and started a new job, I haven’t quite settled into a routine, so I hope this challenge will make exercising a habit again. It has been all too easy lately to make excuses like ‘I left work late’ or ‘I’m too busy’ instead of just biting the bullet and hitting the gym. Accepting this challenge has inspired me to set fitness goals for June, so I’m going to share them with you to hold myself accountable.

My goals for June

1. Spin at Psycle 3 x a week for 30 days – This is the criteria for the Psycle challenge.

2. Eliminate sugar, artificial sweeteners, gluten, wheat, yeast and dairy – These are the rules in the Active Detox plan created by Psycle CEO and Nutritionist Rhian Stephensen.

3. Avoid alcohol – I’ve said avoid instead of eliminate because it is my friend’s hen do in June, so I’m going to allow myself a drink or two without going overboard. For the rest of the month I won’t drink alcohol.

4. Strength train at least once a week – Since moving house and starting a new job, I haven’t settled into a gym routine yet. I want to supplement my spin sessions with weight lifting gym sessions.

5. Drink 2L of water everyday – I’ve really let my water intake slip lately. Now’s the time to get back on track. I’ve really felt the effects of not drinking enough and I don’t like it.

6. Stick to my blog schedule – Guys, I have FINALLY created a blog schedule – woohoo! It has been my goal for a long time and now that I have one, I want to stick to it for a whole month. Hopefully you’ll soon get to know when to expect blog posts from me.

I’m really looking forward to this challenge. It has inspired me to set clear, measurable goals or challenges each month. If you have any ideas of what my goal in July should be, let me know in the comments below or tweet me. What will your goals or challenge be for June?

Wow go you! I hope you manage 3 a week, I’m struggling to keep to any routine at the moment so I might follow you and make some june goals. I need to get back on it but it’s so hard those first few steps.

I had my first spin ride today, so that’s one down, 2 more to go for this week :) I’m really excited at the moment, I really hope I achieve it – I’m determined to! I think making goals really helps, so definitely try setting them. Make smaller goals and build on them, I hope you get back on track :) x

This sounds like a brilliant challenge, can’t wait to read about your progress. I’ve just started doing the 90DaySSSPlan so doing HIIT training 4 times a week, huge change for me!

Ah good luck with it! I started the 90DaySSSPlan but it didn’t work out for me, which I blogged about here. I hope it works out better for you! I’m sure you’ll get great results x

I love Spinning…London seems to have such a great range of classes I’m not jealous at all! I recently started body pump, I love lifting weights seeing myself getting stronger is just the motivation I need. I wanted to work on my diet this month but it seems to have gone out of the window…I struggle so much with diet :( xx

Body Pump was one of my favourite classes at my old gym. Getting stronger is the best. Sometimes it’s difficult to work on both your fitness and diet at the same time, take it one step at a time and once working out feels easier, start to improve on your diet. It’s all a balance. I find writing a meal plan really helps me xx
