Workout Clothes Lookbook #2

My last workout clothes lookbook post was quite popular, so I’ve decided to do another one! This time it mostly features items from the new sportswear collection at New Look. Yep, that’s right folks, most of the workout clothes in this post are under £20. Getting fit doesn’t have to break the bank.

The new sportswear collection at New Look heavily features motivational slogans, strappy bras, monochrome prints and pastel shades. At first glance, the collection resembles Lorna Jane but is a fraction of the price. These items were gifted to me and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the items and a bit disappointed by others.

Outfit #1 – Running late is my cardio

This vest top sums up my life. I am always, always late and avoid running as much as I can. I am going to live in this outfit, it is so comfortable. I was surprised by the leggings, they fit like a dream, are easy to move around in and the waistband is thick so it pulls me in and keeps the belly in place. The leggings aren’t restrictive in any way and are fully opaque so squats and downward dog is not a problem in these. They remind me of the Nike criss cross leggings. For less than £20, I am seriously impressed. I also love the vest top, the slogan is me all over and the fit is great. This is my new favourite gym/lounging around outfit. I’m wearing the leggings now as I’m laid on the sofa typing to you (I’m also wearing my boyfriend’s jumper, but let’s not tell him that, shall we?).

Outfit #2 – No Pain, No Gain

This bra/top is one I bought from the new collection at Sweaty Betty. I love the long length of it as the bottom stops at the smallest part of my waist and is super flattering (although it does make me look flat chested!). I’m not quite ready to wear it out in public without a vest or tee on top yet but that is the goal. One day folks, one day. The leggings however, left me disappointed. I love the slogan as it is one I often say to myself when those last few reps start to burn, but I found them to be an odd fit. The ankle is quite tight but the waistband was too big on me. Also these leggings don’t pull you in, they let my lower belly podge be free for all to see. I love the look of the slogan running down the leg, but I’d recommend trying these on before buying.

Outfit #3 – Believe Achieve

This vest top reminds me of Lorna Jane, which isn’t a bad thing at all. I wore this top to the gym when I just wasn’t ‘feeling it’, but then I caught my reflection in the mirror and the slogan motivated me to push a bit harder. It reminded me that half of the battle is mental. I’m a sucker for fitness motivation quotes and have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them so I love that I can wear clothes with them on. I love the colours in the print of these leggings, however the inside is a white material which shows through when I slightly stretch them. Perhaps I need a bigger size because although they feel great on, the white shows through when I bend down. Squats are a no-go in these leggings so I’ll stick to wearing these for cardio or upper body days. The matching bra to these leggings have a great strap detail and is super comfortable on.

Outfit #4 – No Excuses

I adore the colour of this top. I’d say it sets off a tan nicely, but of course I’m ‘tanned’ all year round. I love the fit of this and the ‘believe achieve’ vest top, the scooped hem is super flattering. I paired it with the neon coral sports bra (pictured above), which due to the padding and the v-shape neckline actually doesn’t make me look flat chested, which is a huge win in my books. To complete this outfit I chose these super cool and eye-catching leggings from Ginger Orange, a brand from East London. I love the print on these, I’ve never seen anything like it for activewear leggings and I’ve had loads of compliments whenever I’ve worn them. The print stays intact and doesn’t distort, not even with my voluptuous thighs.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the new sportswear collection at New Look and I am loving having brighter, more girly colours in my workout wardrobe. Although the clothes aren’t the best material with super technical sweat-wicking capabilities, they are affordable, comfortable and despite my sizing issues, look great. One day I hope to have a fitness walk-in closet to rival Khloe Kardashian’s. Ha, a girl can dream.

What workout clothes have you seen lately? I’ve been eyeing up the new Sweaty Betty collection and also want to add to my New Look collection with this top, this bra and this top.

Let me know what workout clothes you have bought lately, or have been lusting over in the comments below.

Items marked with * were given to me as PR samples but my opinion is always 100% honest. That is my promise to you.

I absolutely love Khloe’s workout wardrobe and the organization is incredible (they can come visit me any day) + I love that she appears to have a lot of Nike which is pretty affordable clothing rather than a steam of high end sportswear. Talking of affordable I actually really like New Look for shoes (such a great range, so price friendly!), I’d never thought of sportswear from them but it makes sense since most places have a range. I’m a bit of a legging and sports bra addict so maybe I’ll have a nose next time I’m in there :) x

Her workout wardrobe is my dream! Hopefully one day I’ll own a house big enough that will allow me to have my own! Yeaa I love Nike, great designs and great technical wear. New Look’s sportswear range is great for when you don’t need technical wear, I love the designs x

I never pick stuff up from New Look as I fear how see-through the leggings get when doing squats. These look quite good, I like tops like that!

I’d definitely try the leggings on first, just to be sure as the sizing isn’t consistent. But I love the tops x
