Lately…

latelyHi! It’s been quite a while since I made an appearance around here and I’m sorry about that. I’ve missed you guys and I have a lot to tell you about. I thought I’d start by filling you in on some of the exciting things I’ve been up to lately…

I Signed up to my first ever 10K

I went to the launch of the Nike Women’s Race Series where I signed up to run my first ever 10k! London, June 21st I will be doing something I’ve never done before. I’ve always tried to avoid running as it’s my least favourite thing to do. However I always look at joggers who pass me by with envy and see other people’s race medals and wish I had one. I like sprinting, even when I was at School 100m and relays were more my thing, anything long distance had me thinking up excuses to get out of it. But I’m tired of excuses, I’m tired of telling myself I don’t like running and that I suck at it. I want to be a part of the running club, I want to put in the miles and pound the pavements. So I shall. As Nike says, Just Do It. If you want to sign up to the 10K in London and join my crew, search GymbagsGladrags10K and use the password ggcrew01. Let’s do this together!

#JLLivebetter
I hung out with John Lewis and Women’s Health Magazine

I was invited to the #JLLiveBetter campaign event where John Lewis teamed up with Women’s Health Magazine to put on one of the best blogger events I’ve been to! My Saturday morning started perfectly with a yoga session led by Colby Hanks, followed by a green smoothie and bircher muesli made by Natasha Corrett of Honestly Healthy herself! I then got to check out the latest sportswear at John Lewis (the temptation to get spendy was so strong!). Next we were equipped with Garmin vivofit Fitness Bands and to truly test our new devices we got sweaty with a workout by Barry’s Bootcamp Trainer Goddess Anya Lahiri. No rest for the wicked, after a quick slug of water and a forehead mop we were shown Millie Macintosh’s workout created by Rich Tidmarsh. It was great to meet great blogger babes and spend the morning getting sweaty and chatting to like minded women!

I learnt how to ski with CrystalSki

If you haven’t already seen the pictures I plastered on my Twitter and Instagram accounts, I went skiing for the first time ever, thanks to CrystalSki! Not bad for a first ski trip, I got to go to the beautiful Courchevel 1850 which I’m told is where celebs ski. Well, if it’s good enough for them darling, it’s good enough for moi. Needless to say, it was incredible. Skiing is a great active holiday to go on (if you don’t go too crazy at apres ski). I’ll be posting all about my ski trip this week so keep your eyes peeled!

yoga in The Shard
I did yoga in The Shard

I’m really starting to love yoga! It’s something I’ll do as an afterthought rather than a priority but when I do have a yoga session I love it and feel great afterwards. Well, I felt on top of the world after a yoga session in The Shard. It’s led by Yogasphere in The View (the indoor one) so you get to hold your warrior pose looking out at the sights of London City. Getting into London for an 8:30am class required an early start for me so I was still half asleep when I arrived but was fully awake and ready to carry on my day with good intentions afterwards. I really enjoyed the teaching style of Leo Lourdes as he managed to have you feeling super relaxed and giggling at his jokes that he’d drop in now and then. After the class we were able to mingle in The View and go up to the outdoor viewing platform where we battled the cold to get the all important perfect selfie with London as our backdrop!

So tell me, what’s been going on with you lately? What workouts have you enjoyed, what new recipes have you discovered? Sharing is caring!

Wow you’ve been up to a ton! That ski holiday looked incredible.

I’ve been racing, running up hills, learning to winter mountaineer, attending sweaty Betty events and reviewing my autumn winter fitness wardrobe. For all, see my blog!

SO jealous of your ski trip!! I’m dying to hit the slopes!! I’ve been trying to get into Yoga, but I just can’t sit still for long enough… I’ll try to give it another shot this weekend (after the day I had yesterday I definitely need some relaxing!)

    Glad you’re back, love :)

    Hi Cantara,

Great post, wow, you’ve been up to so much!

I’m absolutely loving yoga at the moment too. One thing I find though, is that without having a very small class size or one to one tuition I worry that sometimes I may not be doing the poses perfectly. (I recently googled how to do a perfect Chaturanga and realised I was way off!). I saw there was a workshop on at Frame in May which takes you back to basics to ensure that you’re doing everything 100% correctly, even if you’ve been doing yoga for a while. I’m going to sign up if you fancy joining me?

That sounds amazing! As much as I enjoy yoga I haven’t a clue if I’m doing the poses correctly. Thanks for the recommendation, I would have definitely joined you but I’m going to BeFit:London that Saturday x
